Who am I?

  • I married my husband in ’95 at the Little White Wedding Chapel, Las Vegas. We’re still very happy

Alicia Cowan

I started my own business as a Virtual Assistant in early 2009 having spent years as an Executive PA working for award winning business owners in media and PR.

From the very start and with a marketing budget of ZERO I used social media to build my reputation and find clients. Not only did it bring me paying customers quickly but it provided useful information and valuable connections that helped me grow that business.

Within the first year, Twitter alone accounted for over half of my website traffic and 1 in 4 new clients.

I was blown away! The more success I achieved the more people asked me for help. Especially from business owners confused, frustrated and struggling to make sense of this new world of marketing.

I wanted to help them by providing practical, realistic advice. But, if I was going to offer social media support as a service, I had to be sure that I understood the best techniques to get results.

It’s one thing making it work for me, but for someone else to trust me with their hard earned cash was something else entirely!

In the summer of 2009, I studied to become a certified social media and internet marketing specialist, and continue my learning today. I tweak, experiment, and spend endless hours researching – all so that you don’t have to.

It didn’t take long for my social media support services to swamp the virtual assistant side of my business. In early 2011 I made the decision to concentrate solely on helping other driven small business owners market themselves online.

So now, as well as consulting, training and driving campaigns for my clients, I also speak and present on social media at events. Particularly on the stumbling blocks faced by small businesses and how they can be overcome.
